The Salmon Dance

So I crashed again. This time I was RUNNING!!! Yep, I have even managed to wreck on foot. An early morning jog through the trails behind my house--the leaves were covering up some roots that tripped me up real quicklike and sent me airborne head first. I started to land on my bad shoulder when I said to self nah sucka, not again. I stuck out my still sore forearm to take the brunt of it, then slid like a baseball player to home base! I lay still for a moment and wonder how this can be? How can 07 spell wreckage for kevin? Oh well, Liz says atleast I know how to fall, and haven't broken anything!
So the point to this video is... I was listening to a techno-ish podcast on my ipod while running and this song came on, and it was kinda trippy (no pun intended). Afterwards it mentioned a video on youtube. Me and my love for youtube just had to check it, and ofcourse share it. Enjoy, its good for a smoke break at work. Dammit, we have to goto work tomorrow! I'm gonna ease back into it and do a half day...
Gotta go, we're watching Elf!

I have been using Jimmy's hot sauce on just about everything I eat since the Trashmore race. It's addicting I tell ya! Why in this here photo I have some hot cheese dip and chips. It was supposed to be spiced with chipotle, but it was very wimpy. I asked the Judster to grab the hot sauce in the fridge with the skeleton on it, and sure enough that did the trick! Ya'll have got to get some... Good Stuff Big Daddy!

Trashmore CX 07

Sorry it took so long to get this lil write up.
I'm just now winding down from another episode of Monday Velocity training. What a killer workout they are!
I hope you all enjoyed this years Trashmore Cross, iit seems as though you did. I know I did. Even though my race didn't turn out like I had hoped. When I crashed a week and a half ago, my right shifter/brake lever had turned all the way to the inside and all I did was push it back and carried on my way. I should have checked, adjusted, and tightened this issue but the pain in my shoulder and hip took priority and I simply forgot. And boy did I pay for that! During my 35+ race, where I was doing well, I hit a hole at the bottom of the big downhill and it pushed my brake lever very far down the handlebar which locked up my rear brakes bigtime. I left a 20ft skid mark into the gravel that was very deep. I had a major flashback of going over the bars again after hitting a hole with the front wheel. So as I watched the race go away from me, I saw Rob D with a mechanical as well. I think I may have written both of our destinys' by putting Sal's pink cruiser in the pit and telling Rob that he could use it if needed. So weird how that happened (sorry Rob) but what happened was just amazing. I simply ran to the pits, grabbed the pink passion, and proceded up the run-up and the crowd went WILD! I figured hey, my race is done, might as well have fun with it. I engaged the kickstand and got the crowd going and carried on with a big smile on my face. After one lap, Rob was waiting for his turn on the pink passion. He said " hey Kev, can I get a turn?" I said "heck yeah"! So we traded pulls each lap. What a hit that was. Everybody was going crazy over it. I think we may have to try to include a relay race next year. I swear it was hard as hell, but you go all out for one lap and you rest a lap. I have raced with Rob for over a decade and I must say this is the loosest I've ever seen him, and I loved it. This is what Cross is all about, it's just whatever, anything goes. The officials were trying to tells us that we were done and we should get oof the course but we were'nt having it.
Oh, and Keith was a good sport. Many pictures depict us heckling him, and yes we were. But we go way back with Keith and we can go there, you can't! Just wanted to put that out there...

It was a good race, a lot of work went into it. A bunch of us were there at 6am putting it together, and working it all day. Mike and I shared the microphone all day, and I hope that went well. I have never done that before, and it's very hard. Thanks Silly for helping me call out the names.

Uh Oh, Not Again.....

On a cool, chilly Wed night Norfolk ride, My season long stretch of wicked wrecks found me once again.
This time off the front with Art the Dart crossing an intersection that was undergoing some construction. No cones, no warnings just a big hole in the road that after hitting it, jarred my hands right off of the handle bars for a momentary WTF! We estimated the speeds at up to 25mph cuz i don't use no stinking computer! I tried, I really did to grab hold of those elusive bars when all of the sudden they X'd up and launched my ass over the bars onto the pavement with Helmet, shoulder, back, elbow, hip (thats right-no left), and quad! Another jersey torn up! I literally have no team wear left...
Art did a stellar job of not running me over. I don't know how he did it, cuz I remember looking up thinking a yellow cab was coming at me, but indeed it was a 9lb yellow fork carving it's way away from me.
I quickly got up and fixed my shifter, and said " let's finish our breakawy"!
I rode half of ipswitch and the pain was a bit much, so those whose lights were fading to amber were led around the swichy trails of ip thru college park to the entry/ meeting point by Crazy. We have a destiny with Nats come mid Dec so he was lookin out for me. No need to take silly risks and get hurt even more.
Ah hell, I have to get back to work. More later after I get some X-Rays

Post ride was supposed to be at Cogan's but they were closed due to a cleaning party! So Taphouse it was. A couple of Loose Cannons and a chicken buritto later I was good to go... Jerry, Mike M, Silly, Liz, Art, and myself all partook. Jimmy D was stuck in the parking lot waiting on "pop a lock" as he locked himself out of his truck while it was running.

UPDATE!
OK, back from the doc in tha box, and no breaks or fractures thankfully. Just a nasty sprained shoulder... While I was there I got hooked up with a tetnis and flu shot--- And got some nice pain management candy!!!
Just finished up the beef stew that the wifey had cookin all day, and boy did that hit the spot. I'm washing it down with some 4$ (actually 3.99) double dog dare red wine.
Thanx to all who've been checking in on me, I really appreciate that. And it's not so bad. If it were summer time, I would be really jacked up tho. I was wearing three layers of clothing...
