What a view! Wish my camera could get a shot of the stars...
A little place we called home for the weekend. We (they) put in some Labor here!!!

Mmmmmm, PaPa John's pizza and Coke!!!
Also choc donuts, OCP's, and all kinds of great stuff to keep us going.
I could'nt eat enough. My fave was the red gummy fish thingys.
Man, I was stuffing my jersey pocket and eating them on the climbs, pocket lint and all

It's not what it looks like...

I did it first two years ago. It was soooo bad, that I needed a year away from it to get over it. After that, I think I will be back every year! Chris Scott and co. put on a superb event that gets better and bigger each year. Thanks to all the friendly volunteers who took great care of us and encouraged us to keep going. On that note, Big thanx to Mike and Jen Virden, Roger and KayLynn who were just up there to hang and ride. They probably have no idea how much they helped motivating me up that damned 17 mile climb and then some! And then hanging out afterwards. (oh, and the pics, thanx Jen). See you all next year???
I went up with Bill and Tim's excellent adventure Saturday and set up camp on the finishing stretch, right across from the mess hall where all the action can be viewed. The food, beer, and stars were out of this world! The gong wake up call was alarmingly soothing. The mountainbike scene is so much nicer than the road scene! My roots are firmly planted in the DIRT!
This was Bill and Tim's first SM100 and they did awesome! Bill destroyed me with his climbing skills.
The start line was chock full O horsepower! With just under 30 people under 9hrs, it was really fast. I got caught up in a bottleneck in a short singletrack climb, and unfortunately could'nt un-clip the pedals, and T I M B E R!!! Man down. Without whinning, affected areas were all on the right side, ankle, shin, KNEE, hip, right rear butt bone, back, and shoulder! All this around mile 30. The only bother was the knee on the climbs, never bad enough to stop, but very annoying. Shortly after that, on a rocky singletrack climb Paul Revere yells out "the yellow jackets are coming, the yellow jackets are coming!" Too late Pauly, as a bee was stinging me in my already raw hip! I was not alone, everyone was getting stung. It was eerie to hear them swarming around you, and there's nowhere to go... Just made it more epic.
LOVED the downhills, struggled on the road and fireroad climbs. Looking forward to even more improvements next year. The Horvath's will be fully represented!
Oh, there's so much more to write, but I must get ready for bed.
NJOY and comment away!

pictures seem to be a problem right now... have em, but blooger is experiencing difficulties

too sore

My fingers are too sore to blog...
After each downhill I felt like I had arthritis in my hands.
www.buffalo2step.com has some pics up (good to see you out there Bill)!

This a video I shot while cruising through Effingham st Portsmouth just before they closed it! If you listen closely, you can hear a Tornado warning on the radio. Enjoy
